While I'm happy to serve as team captain, I certainly don't mind if someone else would like to take on the job or if a majority of the team members want to vote on naming our team captain. All future discussions regarding our CC participation in the 2018 WC should be made on this thread. No further postings about the tournament will be made on the CC Forum.
The KAS II team roster is is shown in the chart below. If you are on this list but think that you will not be able to play assigned matches in a timely manner, please let me know now so that we can adjust our roster accordingly. We don't want to have to forfeit any matches unnecessarily. I have also noted the KAS II 8-player line up for the first round of the tournament. I will consider any suggestions regarding the team roster and Round 1 lineup that I get before this Thursday (2/22), which is when I intend to submit our final roster and Round 1 lineup.
KAS II Team Roster:
Anyone from the KAS II membership that would like to be considered for a spot on the list of alternates can still sign up on this thread. Depending on any additional feedback I get from team members the week 1 line up shown above is final. If you are currently designated to play in round 1, but won't be available during that time frame, please let me know ASAP so that I can adjust the roster accordingly.
All team members please review the tournament schedule shown in the chart above and compare with your personal calendars for any conflicts and let me know if you won't be available for any of the scheduled rounds.
Also, all team members please review the list of courses for the first 9 rounds shown above and let me know of any courses that you generally play best and any that you don't usually play well or would rather not play.
As a final reminder, please DO NOT sign up for the team if you are only able to play on a mobile device as interactive play between mobile devices and PC/Laptop is not possible at this time on WGT.
Thanks, Lar.
Below are the rules for the upcoming 2018 World Cup and Message to Team Captains.
Rules for world cup 2018
Hello all
Here is a list of a few new rules for this year’s world cup, have a good look and post them on your forum for all players taking part to see,
You can email me with any questions you might want to ask and if anyone is unsure about any of the rules in place,
Tier concession
Any legend over level 100 and below 61 average will receive no shots/strokes off CHS/TLS,
All other concessions will remain the same.
Arranging matches
Players have 5 days to friend/accept invite or they will forfeit the match,
All matches must be arranged by end of first week,
Any matches not played will be reviewed by the panel and if any player has been at fault by not answering messages or moaning about time zones, refusing to play or trying to protect their points then they will forfeit their match,
All reviews must be supported by evidence ie screenshots,
Any player too ill to play must not be on wgt at all and only then can the captain find a replacement but they will have to be prepared to play at short notice,
Captains cannot pick any player who is or due to go on holiday during that round,
We have looked hard at this one because a few of the games last year could have been forfeited but my rule stood in place so this year we will get more games played with this new rule ,
Any other rules about formats and matches I will post nearer the time,
The draw
I am arranging a live draw with Jason young46 around the middle of February,
we have voted this year that there will be no seeded teams, everyone will go into the hat that could be interesting,
with those clubs with more one team, they will be drawn first and kept separate for the group stages only,
there will four groups of nine teams with the top four going through to the knockout stages,
the plate
we all know that the top four go through to the cup knockout stage but for this year the next four will go through to the plate knockout stage, this is new this year and will give nearly everyone a chance to play in a match play knockout, it’s also good the world cup forum which tends to a little stale as we go down to the last few teams so this should keep it busy.
that’s about it for now
I will be sending you captains a message what is expected from you to make the comp run as smooth as it can with no problems
Thx
finny
Handicap System:
There will be 32 to 36 teams entered this year.
There are four groups with 9 teams in each group.
Each team will have up to 12 members with 8 players designated to play in each round.
Each team in the same group will play each other only once and under the designated format and course
Matchplay,strokeplay,stableford
Each match will be two weeks to complete,
3 points for a win and 1 point for a draw
THE HANDICAPS BETWEEN TIERS:
Message for all captains
First of all thx for taking the time to sort out the teams for my world cup, I couldn’t do it without you,
It’s going be a long and hard 6 months of hard but fair play from all players.
I’ve just got ask you to help on this by doing a few things.
This is the way I would like it to work,
Each round will be two weeks; it’s up to you as captains to push to get all games completed on time,
This comp will not stop but there will be a decision made on any games not played, if your player has not made the effort to get the match played in a certain amount of time, they may lose the match by default.
All the matches and tables will be on the first page of the forum, you will need a Google account to view it, its easy to sign up and its free,
Around two weeks before the comp starts I will want your first 8 players to play the 1st match. Anytime from the 15th February,
The order that you send them will be the order I put them in the matches, it’s a bit like the Ryder cup really, whether you put your strength at the front or rear or mix it up, that’s the beauty of it, you won’t know the other teams selection but handicaps will apply.
You can change any players for different matches but only from the 12 man squad and not once the round has started,
At the end of one weeks play I will want your team for the next match and so on,
Also it’s up to you to send me a report on the matches after the first week either on the forum or a pm,
Can you ask your team members to post any results on the forum, ask them to put the group and match and names please and result and a short post on the game, I want the forum buzzing with reports lol.
For the clubs with two teams in, there will be no swapping players between squads i will be monitoring this and there will be no adding players once the comp starts if you have less than 12 squad,
Please keep me informed if any players change tiers during the comp,
Nigel from lv knights has arranged the spreadsheet so that as each match is played when we put the result in the tables are updated automatically; I have 2 members from my club helping me as well so we should be able to keep up hopefully lol
It’s up to you as captains to push your players to get their games played in the time frame of two weeks,
What I don’t want is any arguments on the forum, if a player in your team has got a problem, get them to tell you 1st and you can sort it out with the other captain, I will send details of all captains,
I don’t really want to get involved unless I have to and remember it’s a game and a chance to make new friends, let’s keep it that way.
Lastly let’s keep this comp running smoothly, I know we will have a few hiccups along the way but we will sort them out if we work together,
I will send all the details of the comp to your email address and post on the forum,
All the best
paul
Additional rules for WC 2018 posted 27 February: (Please read)
The world cup of golf 2018
Well here we go again
It’s that time of year when we all make new friends and enjoy the next six months playing golf and having a chat to someone who may be on the other side of the world
This comp has truly gone global with an even greater participation this year,
We have 35 teams in with around 420 players ranging from tour masters to champions,
Our reigning champs wooden tee will have a tough time retaining their cup especially with the new teams taking part this year,
Me,Nico and Paul(dotty) will be covering 24 hours round the clock to catch up with all the posts I’m sure will be on the forum,
I would like to say a big personal thank you to nigel(wupta) who has worked very hard on the spreadsheets which look amazing and make our job so easy to work with,
Enough of my waffling let’s get this year’s world cup under way,
Round 1
March 1st to march 15th
St Andrews golf club
18 holes match play
The home of golf, a true links course. it is a risk and reward course with massive greens but lots of breaks on them, some very nasty fescue to catch any errant drives and horrible pot bunkers, a great course to kick off the world cup,
All matches are on page 1 of this forum in the groups and tabs at the bottom of the page,
RULES
Each match will be played to a win, draw lose no sudden death,
Each match will have a 2 week timeline to complete
Any matches not completed on time will be looked at by the panel and a decision made on the result depending on evidence supplied,
Any players refusing to play will forfeit their match,
Any gimmies must be agreed by both players before start
Any player with a -2 by their name must concede holes 5 and 14
Once a match been played the result will stand so it’s up to all players to check the opponents tier before start of play,
i would suggest a 90sec shot clock with maximum timeouts, theres no panic to get the game played and have a chat inbetween,
if both players agree they can have 60 or 45 that would be their choice,
No focus boosts will be allowed during matches. Use of this tool will lead to a disqualification
Players please when posting results, I would like group number, teams and players please and a short post of the match,
Let’s keep the forum busy but no negative comments from anyone, if you have problem contact your captain first,
Closest to the pin for round 1 and sponsors
Round 1
1st march to 15th march
St Andrews links
Alcaucin
1 sleeve
Hole 8
Birchi
1 sleeve
Hole 17 ntp 2nd shot
Stevereilly
1 Sleeve
Hole 11
There is a separate thread for all ctth challengers, do not post on this forum or we may miss it,
Make sure you have a photo shot or the back up of your opponent will do,
Stu(spino1) or me will contact the sponsors after the round has finished,
dont forget to check the ctth forum, there are some sleeves for some special shots
there is also a sperate thread for any live matches so please if you can let us all see what fine players you are,
THE ARRANGING RULES PLEASE READ
Arranging matches
Player 1
If you are the player 1 it is up to you to send a friend invite to your opponent and keep an eye on your friend list to make sure he has accepted it. If they do not accept it after 3 days let your captain know ASAP please.
Once they have accepted your friend invite it is up to them to send you a message stating what time zone they are in and what days and times they can play there match with you
You then can reply with an answer from there pick of times and dates but please remember to check the time difference 6pm where you are not 6pm all over the world so please adjust the time difference.
Player 2
If you are the player 2 you just wait for a friend invite once you have received it you need to send him some dates that you can play your match
Something like this
Hi thanks for the friend invite my time zone is GMT
Times I can play are
Thursday 24th at 7pm to 8pm my time
Friday 25th at 8pm to 9pm my time
ETC the more dates you can give them the better
But please make sure you put a time not just Thursday night or Friday night.
Do not wait for a player to be green
That does not mean anything.state an exact time between you when you
Both free and play,
That’s about it all I can say is enjoy the game and have fun
go with this attitude and it will be great 6 months

WC 2018 CTTH Prizes;
Sorry for not posting this earlier, but there are some side CTTH prizes during the tournament. A special discussion thread on the WGT Forums is set up at: http://www.wgt.com/forums/t/511420.aspx. The green link at the top of the first entry by PaulFinn52 takes you to the list of holes and prizes.
Team Roster Update:
With the departure of RoyBoy1946 from the CC and our WC Team Roster, I have decided to bring qqvonpewpew (Josh) on to the 12 member team roster.
I believe I’d be comfortable playing Chambers and it’s currently my main concentration for improving on. Whatever you think is best captain!
I really don't mind playing at chambers, put my name down to play
Going 5 and 3 for the 1st round...not a bad start everyone. Below is my tentative line up for Round 2. I'm interested in hearing from anyone on our team regarding how they feel about playing at Chambers. If you really hate the course and would rather not play there, please let me know. Raj and Jason (JW1K), I'm especially interested in how your feel about your game at Chambers since you are the only members we have that qualify for handicap and our opposing team has none. That means if you do play you would get 2 strokes each from whomever you play. I need to send in our Round 2 line up by Thursday, so let me hear from you.
Thanks Jason. Hope I get to drop in on your match.
Saturday at 2pm central. 8pm game time. And again, will stream.
Thanks Jerry and Carl. I'm sure you'll do KAS II proud.
Actually, going to have to see if weekend works for him. Work just informed me this EMT training is going to last today and tomorrow :-/. Will update when I lock in again.
Looks like my match with SteveReilly will be at 2pm central time (8pm GMT) on Friday. I’ll have stream going.
Have my match set to play with Mainzman on Friday morning at 9am uk time and I will be streaming match also so if you would like to come and watch the match come here - www.twitch.tv/bader1976
Carl
Have my match tentatively set for Monday at 1130 Central time. Planning on streaming it, but may end it immediately if meter gets bad on me.
Thanks for posting the Round 1 matchups Jerry. Players may go ahead and make contact with your opponents and schedule your match for play sometime between March 1st and March 15th. Please let me know when you have scheduled your match or about any difficulty you have either getting a response from your opponent or scheduling your match.
Please post a screen shot of your scorecard on the designated thread in this section of the KAS II website. We may need them in the event there are any disputes.
Good luck everyone....Lar
The Round 1 match ups posted by Jerry were revised. Below is the revised one.
Handicaps:
If you have a -2 in the concede column on the chart be below, you must concede holes 5 & 14 to your opponent. If you have a +2 in that column, your opponent must concede holes 5 & 14. Handicaps for Legends only applies if the player is a Legend at Level 99 and below and with average higher than 61.00. Please confirm that your opponent's Tier/Level/Average is as shown on the chart before starting your match. Let me know before starting your match if the your opponent's Tier/Level/Average is not within the values needed to qualify for a handicap. Okay to play without notifying me if your opponent agrees they no longer qualify for handicap.
Post your match results on the WC 2018 discussion thread on the WGT forum at:
http://www.wgt.com/forums/t/499248.aspx. From the tournament directors instructions... team members to post any results on the forum, ask them to put the group and match and names please and result and a short post on the game.
Note that we are in Group 4.
Round 1 Final Results:
Will definitely screenshot those as proof
Important notice for all WC 2018 players...
Message for all captains
Yo captains
We are nearly there so this is some last details for you to have a look at and pass it on to your players,
I have had to wait for some teams to be sent over; this is not a great start,
I will require your team for the second round by the end of first weeks play 8th march no excuses,
Can you send them like this
139 paulfinn52
172 kelsp
196 mainzman
Keep it simple, no dots no dashes and no tiers
Also any updates on matches played and details of upcoming matches,
Make sure when you send your teams for each round you have their tier hasn’t changed, only really legends and tour masters and what their average is,
Any legend level 100/61 and below average will be a legend+,
This means they will not get any shots/strokes/holes when playing a CH/TL,
This does not apply when playing a normal legend; they will play off scratch no shots/strokes/holes,
Make sure your players check the tier and average (legend) of their opponent,
If a match is played and there was concessions on either side, the result will stand no arguments,
Any player refusing to concede any shots/strokes/holes will forfeit the game,
Any players not friended after will liable to forfeit their match so make sure your player does his part and if any problems notify you straight away,
Contact the other captain first please all details of captains are on the first page of the forum,
Sort it out between you we are all adults, I don’t really want to get involved unless I have to.
There’s not much more I can say apart from enjoy it
paul
I have been advised by Paul (paulfinn52) that "any players not friends after 5 days (of start of each match) may lose their match by forfeit" Be sure you have evidence of sent friend request (screen shot of message saying friend request sent).
Great news, Thanks Lar, Ezzy was scaremongering/Trying to knock us (Myself n Yourself) out of our stride! ;)
I asked Paul (paulfinn52), the WC 2018 organizer, what shot clock is supposed to be used in the WC matches and he replied that the default shot clock will be 90 sec. However, a shorter shot clock can be used if both players in a given match agree to which shot clock they want to use.
Will do Carl, Busy day tomorrow but plan to play the St Andy's practice round late tomorrow evening/Tomorrow night
